Build explosive power and symmetry in your legs with this unilateral movement. When done correctly step-ups are an effective accessory exercise to add into your lower body routine.
This is a simple exercise to set-up but is usually executed poorly. Key points to focus on are:
- Keep the back leg straight and lift your toes off the floor to prevent you pushing off the back leg.
- Lean onto your front leg and drive forcefully through the heel.
- Control your descent and land softly.
Once you can do this correctly you can then overload the movement by holding two dumbbells.
